Spiltting Hares Part 1 By Diana Warren (PrOzAcWoMn@AOL.com) *Friday* "Horror, Megahorror, or Mega-horror-death-thriller?" Babs said as she walked down the hall with Buster to their lockers. "Hmmm... tough call. Is Plucky coming?" Buster asked. "Well, I could ask, why?" "Cuz every time Plucky sees those things, he freaks out all night long and wont let anyone else get rest." "Did someone call me?" Plucky stepped over to where Buster and Babs were having their conversation. "No, we were just talking about what a scaredy cat you are when you see horror flicks and how you get nightmares and think Freddy Cruegger is after you," Buster said, smirking slightly. "Horror flicks?!? I LOVE horror flicks!!! So what are we seeing? Slasher movies? Chainsaw movies? Or is it something REALLY gory!? Plucky rubbed his hands together in anticipation, looking completely enthralled in the thought of watching another wonderful Mega-horror-death-thriller. Buster and Babs looked at each other and rolled their eyes simultaneously. As the three of them walked out the front doors of ACME Loo, Shirley ran up to catch them. "Like, so what's going on tonight? And PLEASE don't say Weenie Burger, that place is like totally giving me some bad karma lately." Plucky grinned slyly at Shirley and slipped his arm around her shoulder. She looked back at him cautiously. In a smooth voice, Plucky said, "Well, what do you say to candle light dinner for two.. stargazing by the lake... and then a little game of doctor, I'll give free examinations." *big wide sly grin*. Buster and Babs continued to walk as Shirley zapped Plucky with a lightning bolt. Plucky then fizzled to a pile of ashes on the steps of Acme Loo, and Shirley caught up to Buster and Babs. "Let's, like, rent movies, or some junk." Babs nodded, and then noticed a moving van pull up to a rabbit hole a little farther out in the forest. "I wonder who's moving in." Buster shrugged nonchalantly, and Plucky ran to catch up with them as he finished reattaching his beak for the third time that day. The toons jumped down Babs's rabbit hole for a little R&R (rest and relaxation). *Monday* "Did you hear? There's a new student today!" Hamton said cheerfully to Fifi and Shirley as they walked towards first period. "Oh! Iz hope eet ees zum cute male skunk 'unk finally come for me!" Fifi said, grinning. Hamton didnt look happy... but tried to act normal... for him anyways. "Yeaa, or even better! Like, a new loon for Plucky to harass," Shirley and Fifi grinned slyly at each other and entered the room. In the class, all the usual toons were there. Gogo sat in the back with his latest love interest, the toaster. Mary Melody filed her nails, and Elmyra had little red hearts glazing over her eyes as she eyed Montana Max from across the room. Buster and Babs were sitting in the front, looking less than thrilled to be at school at 7:30 on a Monday. As the bell rang, Elmer Fudd ran in, followed by Plucky, holding a notebook with papers sticking out in all different direction. Elmer cleared his throat to quiet the chatter going on between students. "Alwight class, today we have a new student. I hope you wiwl awll be on youw best behaviow." He motioned for someone at the door to enter, and slowly, a 15 year old white female rabbit entered the room. This new beauty had sparkling green eyes, and brunette hair down to her waist. She was wearing a formfitting ankle length red dress with spagetti straps, and red lipstick to compliment her. Everyone stared at her, especially Buster. Babs looked at her suspisiously, then at Buster angrily. Elmer spoke up again, "Ok evwyone, dis is Juwiet Jackwabbit, she just moved hewe so wet's awll help herw find herw way awound the Wooniversity." Juliet gave a little wave and smiled nervously at the staring class. She took a seat in the far corner of the room, to avoid bringing attention to herself. "Now cwass, we are going to be studying Quantum Physics, first off wets tawk about... *RING* Everyone simultaneously... and realizing class was over, stampeded out of the room. Babs waited for Shirley, then headed to the halls, where she saw Buster talking to Juliet. Babs gave an obviously unapproving look at the two. "I dont like her, she seems suspicious." "Um, like, Babs, you dont even know her. She could like totally be a completely centered rabbit..." Babs continued to eye the new female 'threat'. "I dunno, she seems fishy to me... We'll see..." Babs and Shirley walked over to Buster and Juliet. Babs cleared her throat, gave the biggest most obviously fake smiles anyone has ever seen, and said, "Hi! I'm Babs Bunny." she shook Juliet's hand vigorously and continued to smile. Juliet looked a little uncomfortable, but smiled back. "Nice to meet you." Uncomfortable silence... "Well, if you need any help getting around, just ask me and I'll help ya find anything you're looking for," Babs finally added, breaking the silence. "Wow, you guys are so nice, Buster just offered to show me around too." Juliet smiled innocently back at Babs, who in turn gritted her teeth, but tried to maintain at least what could pass for a smile. "Greeeeeat, well nicemeetingyouseeyouaround" And with that Babs ran down the hall, grabbing Shirley's arm, though it took Shirl's body a second to catch up with her overly stretched arm. "See what I mean!" ranted Babs when out of ear shot of Juliet and Buster. "She's a total psychopath! I bet you ten bucks she's wanted for murder in 3 other states." Babs looked at Juliet with disgust. "Like, totally take a chill pill, Babs, she was nice, ok?" Shirley said, which in turn made Babs glare at Shirley. The bell rang and as Shirley and Babs hurried to their next class, along with all the other toons, Shirley said, "By the way, we need to go shopping for the prom like megasoon, you know it's only like two weeks away." Babs nodded, and looked unsurely back at Buster, who was still talking and laughing with Juliet. *Wednesday* "Hey, Babs" Buster said, strutting up to his locker. "What's going on?" Babs, in turn, having watched Buster stare glassy-eyed at Juliet for the past two days, shut her locker and walked away, completely ignoring him. Plucky walked up to Buster, "Hey, what's with her?" Buster shrugged, figuring it was a girl thing. Plucky looked up the hall at Shirley. "Hey, me and Hammy are going tux shopping for the prom tomorrow, you comin?" Buster seemed sort of dazed, like something was bothering him... "Buster? Earth to Buster..." Plucky waved his hand in front of Buster's face. "Yeah, yeah, I'm comin'." and with that the two walked off to class. *Friday* Buster walked up to his locker, looked at Babs... who hadn't talked to him in four days now.... which is really annoying when someone won't talk to you when you talk to them, and tried to figure out what the silent treatment was for. "Like, you're coming prom dress shopping with us tonight... right Babs?" (Shirley) Babs turned around and gave Buster a cold glance, then said, "Yeah of course, I can't wait." She smiled at Shirley and went back to rumaging through her locker. Buster looked at her curiously, and said, "Hey, Babsy, what are you doing tomorrow?" Babs gave him an icy glare for a minute, trying to figure out if she should keep the silent treatment going or talk, she decided not to talk, and just stared at him, hoping he would finish his sentence anyways. Buster rolled his eyes. "Well, someone woke up on the wrong side of of the *web* this morning." He turned to Shirley, "Well, Shirl, tell Babs that she's invited to Juliet's house warming party tomorrow if she drops the mute act." That was not the best thing to have said. Babs gave him the coldest evil eye to ever be seen, opened her mouth, and quickly walked away so she wouldn't break her silent treatment. Just then, Juliet walked passed Buster's locker, smiling at him and winking. Buster opened the top of his turtle neck to let some steam come out, then followed her to his next class. Shirley watched Juliet and Buster suspiciously. Babs was right, this was trouble. *Friday night* "Oh! Look at zees one!! It's tres belle!" Fifi exclaimed, holding up a pail blue dress. Babs looked around at all the different dresses. Her eye fell on Juliet shopping on the oposite side of the store. "Like, Babs, you should really try this one. It would totally go with..." Realizing Babs was distracted, Shirley glanced over in the direction that Babs was looking in. "Hmm... Like, why's she shopping for a prom dress? I mean she's totally new here, how could she have managed a date that mondo quickly?" Babs turned away, looking very uneasy, and looked through some more prom dresses. Fifi wandered in the direction of a 'skunk hunk' that was shopping for ties in the next area. A distant voice was heard from the other side of the store..."Oh, that looks fabulous! That dress was made for you! Uh, will that be cash or charge?" Babs and Shirley looked over again, seeing both the clerk (who was trying to make some commission), and Juliet, who was wearnig a long evening gown, with a green satin corsette style top which ended at mid-hip. From there, layers of silver chiffon flowed elegantly to the floor. Juliet looked in the mirror. "I... dunno. I mean, it's nice. Oh, it's REAL nice. *sigh* It's just so expensive. Let me see if I can save up a little more in the next few days, then I'll be back." Juliet went into the dressing room for one second, then walked out in her red dress from school and tossed the evening gown over the clerk's desk. "What do you think of that dress, Shirl?" Babs pointed to the dress that the agitated clerk was putting back on a hanger. "Nice. But.. uhm... No offense, Babs, but... Don't you think it'd be, like, a tad too small?" Shirley grinned nervously at Babs. "Thanks for the ego boost, Shirl. So I'll give up carrot cake for a week, no big deal. Besides, it would do me good to lose a little weight, guys like slimmer girls and..." Babs stopped in midsentence, looked down and sighed. "You know, Buster still hasn't asked me to the prom yet. I mean I know we are fighting, but we always go together, that's just known. He didn't even bother to ask me." Shirley looked at Babs sympathetically. "Like, Babs, maybe he just figured you knew. Or some junk. I wouldn't worry about it." Although Shirley obviously didn't believe what she was saying. Babs gazed at Shirley with that 'be honest' look. "Tell me the truth, Shirl. Do... do you think that... her and... I mean...." "Babs," Shirley interupted, "like, relax. Buster is just trying to make you sweat it out. Don't worry about it." Babs looked up and smiled a little. "You're right, I dont need to worry. And I'm sure me and Buster will be getting along by then. Now if only we could blackmail Juliet to move to Cuba, I'd have it made!" Babs and Shirley giggled as Fifi continued flirting with the skunk employee in the background. *Monday* "Where were you all weekend, blueboy? I called ya ten times! I have a great new get rich quick scheme that is SURE to work!" Plucky opened his locker and presented some gadget that didn't really look like it would be useful for anything. He grinned proudly at his accomplishment. Buster continued to look in his locker, ignoring the device. "Oh, I was helping Juliet with unpacking and showing her around and stuff..." Plucky gave Buster a devilish look. "Oh.... unpacking... suuuuuure..." Plucky poked Buster in ribs, "I want details... *grin*" Buster gave Plucky an irritated look, but before he had time to speak, Shirley, (wearing her cheerleader outfit because it was football season), walked over to the two guys and glared at Plucky. "Like, Pluckface, the next time you call me at 3 A.M., you like, wont even *BE* a pile of burnt feathers. And trust me, like, *no one* would ever find the body." Shirley gave a big evil grin and walked away laughing. Plucky and Buster watched her walk down the hall. Plucky looked at his watch, then turned to Buster. "Yup, she wants me." Buster rolled his eyes, "You're right Plucky, she does want you... She wants you DEAD." *grin* Before Plucky had time to retaliate, the bell rang, and all the toons dashed to their classes. A few minutes after class began, Babs burst through the door breathing hard, giving the impression she had been running. She looked kinda scraggly... all her books were disorganized, she was pale and looked like she hadn't slept in days. When everyone turned to look at her she grinned sheepishly. "Heh heh... Sorry I'm late..." Quickly she took her seat in the front next to Buster. Buster looked over at her with a concerned expression. "Uh... Babs... You ok?" He sounded so sincere to her. She thought to herself, 'Maybe I was just overreacting, even though he talks to a girl he barely knowns five times more than someone he's known all his life... Even though he didnt call me all weekend... Or the last weekend... Which hadn't happened in like 7 years...' The more she thought to herself the, grumpier she got. She turned to him, giving no expression, and said coldly, "I'm fine, thank you," and turned back to the front of the room. Buster rolled his eyes, and turned sideways in his desk to face her. "Ok, Babs, this is ridiculous. I don't know what your problem is, but you're acting like a 6 year old." Babs, more than happy to vent her anger, turned to him, smiling sarcastically. "Oh... I'm acting like a 6 year old? Yeah, I can see how that would be a bit too *mature* for you to handle. Maybe if I threw tantrums, wore diapers, and acted like a 2 year old you'd understand me better. Then we'd be on the same level." *evil grin* Buster smirked, "Oh, so now I'm two? Sure, Babs. At least I dont ignore my friends just because *sarcastically whining* 'everything isn't going my way*sniffsniff*.' Babs lowered her eye brows at the last comment. "Oh, so you don't consider not calling your 'friends' for over a week ignoring them?" Babs crossed her arms. Buster laughed, sounding very annoyed. "Well gee, Babs, why would I call you when you've been acting like a spoiled brat? So you could ignore me on the phone too? I dont even know why you're upset." Babs smirks. "Well, Buster, anyone with a *BRAIN* would know why. So, I guess that shows you obviously *LACK* one!" Buster turned back to face front, as if to finally end this conversation. His smile oozed sarcasm as he said, "Well, that's good to know. As long as I don't have a brain, I don't have to worry about becoming a *nut job* and have to be put on prozac like *some* people I know. Babs scowled at him, then turned to face front. She was NOT smiling anymore. In the attempt to get in the last word, she said under her breath, "Bite me." Plucky looked over at Hamton and whispered, "Can she say that?" Hamton shrugged. Babs turned around, hearing Plucky's comment, and realized that everyone was listening to them, including Professor Fudd. Elmer Fudd looked at them angrily, as they had taken up five minutes of his lecture to argue with each other. "Pwinciples office. Now!!" With that, he pointed to the door. Buster and Babs let out a simultaneous sigh, and slowly walked towards the door. Once they had closed it, yelling could be heard from the two bunnies all the way down the hall. Plucky looked over at Shirley. "What is going ON with them? I've never seen them fight for this long before." Shirley hmmmed. "Well, like, I think *that* has something to do with it," she said pointing to Juliet who sat innocently in the corner next to the American History poster on the Civil War. Plucky looked over to where Shirley was pointing, then back to Shirley. Looking sorta confused, he said, "Buster and Babs are fighting over the Civil War?" Shirley rolled her eyes and turned back to face the front of her desk muttering, "My mother was right, men are idiots..." *Tuesday* It was lunch time, and the toons were all sitting down to stuff their faces full of mystery meatloaf, as was the tradition every Tuesday. All the toons were sitting at their usual table except Babs. Shirley looked around, "Hey, guys, like, where's Babs?" Everyone looked around. Buster sighed. "What's the difference? If she was here, she'd just start a fight. Besides, I haven't seen her at lunch since last Thursday." Fifi looked over at Shirley with a concerned expression, "You know, I am, how you say, worried about her. She eez not acting like her usual self, no?" Shirley nodded in agreement. After that, Plucky began talking (for about 20 minutes) about how was planning to host his own talk show. Buster seemed to have left during it, but everyone was too bored to notice. Buster, walked through the halls and noticed a pair of pink ears through the glass on Professor Daffy's door. He walked up to the door, slowly opened it, and looked in. Babs was sitting in Daffy's chair with her feet crossed on top of Daffy's desk. She looked up from a magazine she was reading. Casually she asked, "Can I help you?" Buster sighed. "Uh... Babs, can we talk for a minute? And I mean talk, not fight." Babs put her feet down on the ground and sat up strait. "Sure. Say what's on your mind." She looked very mellow, not really seeming to be angry, or happy. "Please just tell me what is going on." Buster said, just noticing her appearance. She was wearing her cheerleader uniform like usual. (it being football season and all) Babs had her ears back in a ponytail and was also wearing some light pink lipgloss. She seemed thinner than she normally did, which shocked Buster the most, seeing that Babs NEVER lost her appetitie. "What do you mean what's going on?" Babs stared at him vacantly. "Well gee, let's see. You haven't talked to me in weeks, and the only time you do is to argue. Babs, just tell me what's goin on in that head of yours. I don't want to fight with you anymore." Buster walked a little closer to the desk. "Talk to me?" Babs looked down at the magazine on her lap. Still with a completely blank expression, she answered, "I *am* talking." Buster sighed. This was going nowhere fast. "Wanna come grab a bite to eat with me before class?" Babs looked up, seeming uncomfortable. She brushed her ears back and looked down. "No thanks, I'm not really hungry." Buster had never seen Babs pass up food before. This really disturbed him. "Not hungry? Ok, that proves it, who are you, and what have you done with Babs?" This comment shocked Babs a little bit. She wasn't sure if he was joking or serious. When she opened her mouth to respond, she was interupted by Juliet coming through the door. "There you are, Buster! I was looking all over for you." Juliet walked up to Buster, grabbed his hand, which took him by surprise, and pulled him towards the door. "Come on, walk me to class, ok?" As Juliet jerked him out the door she looked back at Babs and gave her a devilish grin. Babs rubbed her chin as though deep in thought. "Well, Juliet, maybe your little innocent act is fooling them, but it isn't fooling me. We'll see just how much of a saint you are." With that she got up and walked out the door. *Wednesday* Babs and Shirley gossiped next to the lockers as various toons walked up and down the halls. "So, like, she was kicked out of her last school for like setting the chemistry lab on fire? Mondo negatory karma man!" "But that's nothing compared to the rest of the dirt." Babs looked at the camera, smiled, and said, "Remember kids, a good lock may keep some people out, but as long as you practice really hard, and carry an extra bobby pin, your parents won't be able to lock you out of anything." Babs grinned triumphantly holding up the prized bobbypin. "So?! Come on! Like, you can't just stop there, or some junk. Tell me *everything*." Shirley was slightly annoyed that Babs had kinda zoned out while looking into the camera. Babs snapped out of her daze. "Heh, sorry...Anyways... You won't believe what she did after that!" Babs proceeded to whisper large quanities of info into Shirl's ear while Shirley gasped and shouted 'No way!' every once and a while, looking shocked. Suddenly, Juliet walked up to Shirley and Babs, smiling her innocent smile like usual. "Hi, guys! What's everyone talking about." Babs smirked. "Actually, we were just talking about setting the chemistry lab on fire for fun, sound's really cool, eh?" Shirley tried her hardest not to grin, but didn't succeed. Juliet's smile disappeared for a minute, then returned. She was sure that no one knew anything about her past. "Setting something on fire? Why would anyone want to do that?" Babs snickered and put her hand on Juliet's shoulder jokingly. "Heh, we're just kidding. Only a total *WACKJOB* would do something like that, don't you agree, Juliet?" Juliet batted her eyelashes a little and said, sounding a little agitated, "Yeah, you don't want to mess with people like that. There's no telling what kind of things they might do. Tata! And oh! We should all ride together to the prom, don't you think?" And with that, she walked away, careful to get out of Shirley's view before turning to Babs and giving her a cold glance. Shirley grinned, "Wow, like, speaking of psycho. She like totally just threatened you, ya know." Babs closed her locker, smiling proudly to herself over harassing Juliet. Shrugging at Shirley, she said, "Well, at least now everyone won't think I hate her cuz I'm jealous. Feh, that's so stupid." Babs glanced down the hall to were Buster was standing. Fifi walked up to were Shirley and Babs were. Shirley glanced down at Buster too. "Will you just like, go make up with him, or some junk? Like, just go talk to him about the dance. Be nice, and try to get along better now. Besides, you always go together." Babs took in a deep breath, then nodded. "Oh forget it, it's two days till the prom. I'll just swallow my pride, apologize, and ask him. He probably just didn't ask because I haven't talked to him in two weeks." Shirley smirked, "Gee, do ya think?" Babs gave a fake, slightly worried smile. She turned away from Shirley and Fifi and headed down the hall to where Buster was presently shoving books into his locker. 'Everything is ok, we'll still go, he's just mad at me for ignoring him. He isn't going with Juliet', Babs thought, trying to convince herself more than anything else. She took a deep breath, let it out, tried to act like her usual self, and strutted up to Buster's locker. Buster continued to go through his locker, seeing Babs in the corner of his eye. Babs cleared her throat *ahem*, and he looked up at her. Slightly irritated, he said, "Yes?" Babs smiled a little, and said in a sweet tone, "Uh, hi. Look, I'm sorry about... Well, I'm sorry about this whole year, how's that?" Buster couldnt help but laugh a little bit. "Yeah, well, it's ok. I haven't exactly been all that great lately either." Babs smiled, her selfconfidence was restored. They were on good terms again. As Buster closed his locker, she put one hand on the door and nonchalantly said as she examined the nails on her other hand, "So, what time you gonna pick me up, Blueboy?" Buster blinked and looked slightly uncomfortable. Then he tried to pretend like he didnt know what she was talking about. "Pick you up? For what?" Babs started to feel her knees shake. Something *was* wrong, and it wasn't just the fighting. She looked up at him and gave a self confident smile, hoping he wouldn't notice that she was worried. "Uh, hello? The prom silly. So what time you wanna meet me?" Buster shifted his eyes all around , looking very uncomfortable. He took a deep breath, then, still without moving, said VERY slowly, "Um... Babs... I..." The bell rang for next period. The noise broke the awkwardness slightly. Babs giggled nervously, still smiling, "What is it, Buster, cat got your tongue?" Furball stuck his head out of the door of one of the school rooms with a look of disgust at the pointless pun. Buster lowered his head, then lifted it back up, looking at Babs with that look your parents give you right before they tell you that your hampster died. "Babs... I... uh..." He ran his hand through the top of his head nervously. Finally he took a deep breath and said it. "Babs, I asked Juliet to the prom." Babs felt sick to her stomach. "Uh...*confused smile* what? *nervous giggle* What do you mean?" "I mean, I asked Juliet if she would go to the prom with me, and she said yes," Buster said looking at her, not sure how exactly she would react. Babs opened her mouth as if she was about to say something, but then closed it and looked up and down the halls, they were the only ones left, all the others had gone to class when the bell rang. She looked at Buster questioningly, and they both just stood there in silence for what seemed like an hour. Finally, Babs lost her cool and screamed, "HOW *DARE* YOU DO THIS TO ME!" Buster now gave her the same questioning look, "Do this to you?" Sarcastically, "Well, GEE, Buster it would have been nice of you to tell me before I went out and bought a prom dress with the rest of the girls. I can't believe you would....*shaking her head in disbelief* .....and you knew I was going prom dress shopping with them, why didn't you bother to tell me THEN?" "Well, gee, Babs, as I seem to remember, you weren't TALKING to me at the time. I also seem to remember that I never * asked* you to go to the prom in the first place, did I?" Buster said, looking slightly agitated now. Babs still laughed slightly in disbelief of what was actually happening, even though she had expected it to happen deep down.. "Well, gee, Buster, concidering that we went to every other dance together, I just assumed..." Buster cut her off, "Assumed? Babs... I really dont want to have this conversation right now, ok?" He turned around to walk down the hall. Babs, not knowing what to do, threw her books on the floor, making a loud *THUD* "WELL I *DO* want to have this conversation... now..." She started the sentence yelling, and ended what seemed to be a calm tone. She crossed her arms and stared at Buster is he turned back around to face her. "You wanted to talk yesterday, and I talked to you. Well, now *I* wanna talk..." "Fine, you wanna talk, we'll talk." He stared at her blankly. Babs tried to keep her cool and not yell anymore. She sighed, then said, "Why did you ask her and not me?" Buster smirked. "What? Is there some law that says that I HAVE to go to everything with YOU and no one else?" Babs balled her hands up into fists, but tried to keep her cool. "Buster, we've gone to every dance together, and every party... You really...*deep breath* you really should have told me. I... I saw you looking at her... but... I didn't think you would just desert me like that." Crossing her arms and looking at him coldly, she said, "My best friend... What a joke." Buster leaned against a locker and rolled his eyes. "Babs, I know you think the world revolves around you, but it doesn't. You think you can ignore me for two weeks, then when YOU feel like talking to me again, I should jump at the chance. We have been doing nothing but fighting for two weeks, which *you* started I might add. Now you act like nothing happened. Forgive me, but maybe now it's my turn to be mad for no reason. That seems easy enough for you. Me going with Juliet has nothing to do with you." Babs laughed, "Are you kidding? It has nothing to do with me? How can you say that? Of course this has something to do with me, it affects me! You....*swallow* ...you really should have at least *swallow*... What if I had never come up to you, would you have not said anything at all? And I wasn't mad for no reason. I had my reasons... And my suspicions turned out to be *right* on the money." "Frankly Babs, I never asked you. I never even hinted that we were going, so this doesn't have to do with you," Buster said, he was starting to look edgy. "But we always have before! It was just a little fight, I would apologize, but I was right. I can't believe you would just replace me to get even with me. That is so childish" Buster lost his smirk. Now he just looked mad. "Babs, we are not married, heh, technically, we aren't even dating. I don't have to tell you everything I do and everyone I go places with." Babs uncrossed her arms, "I can't believe you are the same person that told me I was your better half, and that you were nothing without me when you rescued me from being in Thirteensomething." Buster took in a deep breath. He REALLY didn't want to talk anymore. "Well, Babs, I don't have to take you to a prom just because you feel that I'm obligated to go with you." Babs lowered her head in disbelief and gave a shocked giggle. "Obligated? Oh, is that you feel? You feel OBLIGATED to come over to my house every weekend? You feel OBLIGATED to raid my fridge without even asking? You feel OBLIGATED to go to movies, go to Weenie Burger, to be with me in general huh?" Buster realized that didn't come out right at all. He sighed. "No, Babs, that's not what I meant. I meant you're my best friend, and we have always gone to everything together. I like to hang out with you, but I'm 15 now, and I want to go to the Prom with a REAL date." Babs smiled and sigh-giggled under her breath. "Oh, you want to go with a REAL date. So was going with me a fake date? Tell me, Buster, what exactly was going to dances with me like to you." At that point she stopped smiling and looked Buster dead in the eyes. Buster looked back at her with no real expression on his face. He sighed, and said, "Like going with a sister." Babs closed her eyes and nodded for a few seconds, then when she opened her eyes, she gave a bitter smile and said as though she was out of breath, "Oh, I see. You know, Buster, you aren't the same rabbit I used to know. And I don't think I like you very much, and I don't think I want to be friends with the person you've become." She picked her books up off the floor. When she stood up she smacked her lips, then looked at Buster and said with a hateful grin, "Hope you have fun at the dance, Buster. You two deserve each other." With that she walked down the hall and out the front doors of ACME Looniversity, not even caring about the two periods of class she would miss. Buster closed his eyes. Their two weeks of fighting had ended, but he didnt feel any better, and he wasn't sure if any of what he said was even true, he was just angry and sick of Babs's hot and cold personality. He looked down at his watch, and slowly wandered to the class he was 15 minutes late for... To Be Continued...
