It all started around 1996. I had discovered alt.tv.tiny-toon on usenet, having been invited there by Nefaria after I made a post on AOL's "Toon Talk" chat room saying I liked Tiny Toons. Among other things, Nef sent me a few existing fanfics, including his own Buster's Guide to Unconsummated Romance, some art and other information. I soon discovered other classic fanfics, including what is believed to be the first ones ever, Quantoon Leap, Jurrasick Duck and (Non) Compus Mentis. Soon after that, I wrote my own first TTA Fanfic, Buster and Babs, No Relation? I posted it to at3, AOL's Toon Talk Archives and it was a hit. Soon after that, I started keeping track of new fanfics and fanfic based artwork and was e-mailing it all to people. Basically I sent what I had to known fanfic writers, known fanart drawers, and a few well known fans. I just sent out a large e-mail blast to them all, every so often. Then one day, someone asked me, I think it was the fellow now known as Han@acmelabs.com, if I'd like it to become a real mailing list that anyone could respond to, and that, was how it all started. Soon after that, I started doing a "monthly mailer" to of all the new known fanfic and fanfic based artwork to "the list." Discussion was brisk, and new fanfic came out fairly regularly for the next several years. It was a lot of fun in those days, and still is. At its peak, the list had members in the US, Canada, the UK, Singapore, France, Germany, Japan and the USS Kitty Hawk! Those early days did have some problems. We got mail bombed a couple of times and then there was a fellow named Chirs Shirk who caused some real pain. But all in all, it's an era I look back on fondly. It doesn't bother me, much, that we are not as active as we once were. As the show retreated further into history, new fanfic came out less often, and a lot of people drifted away. But we're still here. And that's pretty cool. Kevin
